Scenario 3

Scenario 4
Joan is an older woman who applied for a job as a driving instructor. She was unsuccessful, and was told that the reason for this was that it was not considered a suitable job for an older woman. Are they right?

Scenario 5
Olivia was a cafeteria assistant in a large football club. She is a lesbian and began regularly experiencing homophobic taunts and abuse by players. Boys just being boys?

Scenario 6
Simon is gay and works in childcare in a nursery. Shortly after starting the job, his manager told him there were parental concerns – linked to being gay. Concerned parents?

Scenario 7
Assif was the only Muslim in a team of police officers. After a terrorist attack in the UK, his colleagues began to treat him differently. The treatment is not good.

Equality Activity Topics
There are two activity topics. The first asks learners to analyse a news story about some peoples’ post Brexit behaviours towards immigrants. Learners are asked to identify what type of discrimination this might represent.
The second asks learners to analyse a news story about how a family were removed from an aeroplane. Learners are asked to identify what type of discrimination this might represent.
